The Reverend Reginald DeVaughn accepted the calling to Pastoralship in the year of 1995.  The first official core meeting was held in the home of Pastor Reginald DeVaughn on Thursday, May 11, 1995 at 7:30 PM, with eight (8) people present.

The church was officially organized on Sunday, June 4, 1995, at the Holiday Inn Astrodome, with seven (7) members and fifty-three (53) people present. The newly formed church was named Silverlake Church.

Word spread rapidly regarding the newly-organized church, and visitors came from far and near. The church began to grow rapidly and continues to grow at a phenomenal rate. Within the first year a total of seventy-seven (77) new members joined.  Each year thereafter, the growth rate was between two hundred (200) to three hundred (300) members joining yearly.

On September 24, 1998, the church purchased twenty (20) acres of land on Cullen Blvd in Pearland, Texas.  One year later, the church purchased an additional twenty (20) acres, totaling forty (40) acres in all.  On December 23, 2002, the Silverlake Church was blessed to build a beautiful $1.6 million dollar multipurpose facility.  With the continued support, the church is now in the planning phases of building Phase II of several community facilities.
